IL6 and neoplasm: TAM infiltrate was associated with the presence of senescent cells in both IR and NIR but not in UnIR tumor tissue sections, as shown by the increase of “age pigment” lipofuscin cytoplasmic accumulation (84,53 and 51,82 times higher in IR and NIR than in UnIR tumor sections, respectively, p < 0.0001) (Fig. 1h) and high mRNA levels of interleukin-6 (IL6), a cytokine released by senescent cells (Fig. 1i) (p < 0.05).
