In a targeted proteomics pilot study [102], five pancreatic cancer biomarker candidates—including 14-3-3 protein sigma, gelsolin, lumican, transglutaminase 2, and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 1—were investigated in 60 plasma samples using a simple and robust selected reaction monitoring (SRM) multiplexed assay. This evidence concerns the gene GSN and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
