When compared to OBMC-derived supernatants from healthy individuals, addition of those derived from OBMCs of periodontitis patients to IL-2 activated PBMCs had lower priming/activating capability of PBMCs to secrete IFN-γ and TNF-α, whereas IL-6 induction was similar between the two, likely due to the plateauing effect (Figure 4A–C).
