Since genetic factors, primarily contributed by mutations seen in the pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, TNF-α and many others, have been identified to be associated with periodontal disease, we studied NFkB signaling pathway in keratinocytes involved in the regulation of many pro-inflammatory cytokines in order to understand the complex interaction between the immune cells, keratinocytes and oral bacteria. Here, IL1B is linked to periodontal disorder.
