Interestingly, in CRC samples and metastatic tissue overexpressed AEG-1 was detected in nucleus, with stage III/IV patients displaying higher nuclear AEG-1 staining versus stage I/II patients (46.67% vs. 24.32%, respectively; p = 0.037), while in normal mucosa and in adenoma it was predominantly cytoplasmic [79].
