ZBTB16 and metabolic syndrome: In this study, we assessed the effect of acute oral administration of ellagic acid on metabolic parameters, oxidative stress, and transcriptomic profiles in an inbred rodent model carrying a variant of one of the metabolic syndrome-related genes, Zbtb16 (zinc finger and BTB domain containing 16), known to have sensitizing properties to nutrigenetic and pharmacogenetic interactions and capable of also modulating some features of the metabolic syndrome [22,23].
