SHBG and polycystic ovary syndrome: In contrast, when the women were separated based on the hyperandrogenemia status, we found significant differences in LH, FSH, TT, fTesto, SHBG, DHEAS, ASD and the HOMA index (p = 0.042; p = 0.006; p = 0.005; p < 0.001; p = 0.010; p < 0.001; p < 0.001; p = 0.021, respectively), indicating that hyperandrogenemia is more indicative for metabolic changes in women than combined HA (Table 2).
