The authors documented a slight increase in the serum levels of albumin and bilirubin in the infected animals as well a rise in the mean activities of the liver enzymes, especially regarding ALT and AST during the early stage of infection until 60 days p.i. However, no clear correlations between the fluke burden and the alterations in biochemical parameters or in the hepatic marker enzymes were observed. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and infection.
