It is worthwhile to mention that iC1e/K is present in human plasma, and ongoing clinical studies employing convalescent plasma to treat COVID-19 [47] may benefit not only from the presence of immunoneutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 but also from its endogenous capacity to inhibit the kinin–kallikrein system, as shown for hereditary angioedema [48,49].
