However, considering the function of syndecan-4 in regulating focal adhesion formation [39] and cytoskeleton organization [40,41], and since pancreatic cancer tissue can be several folds stiffer than its healthy counterpart [129,130,131], it would be interesting to study the role of syndecan-4 in modulating the mechanical response to the increased tissue stiffness. This evidence concerns the gene SDC4 and pancreatic neoplasm.
