Half of these genes and proteins have links to the HPG axis and follicular development, including the hormone FSH and the genes ZFP36L2, ERBB3, RPS26, and RAD50. In combination with previous studies that have indicated these genes as being involved in physiologic processes associated with PCOS, these genes may be of particular interest for further functional follow-up to assess if they have role in the disease development. This evidence concerns the gene RPS26 and polycystic ovary syndrome.
