After exploring the circRNA expression profiles of 10 pairs of ESCC tissues by microarray assay, Shi et al. investigated a novel circRNA, termed as hsa_circ_0006168, and confirmed its role in promoting ESCC proliferation, migration and invasion by sponging microRNA-100 and regulating the expression of Mammalian Target of Rapamycin (mTOR) [18]. Here, MTOR is linked to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
