ACE and acute kidney injury: A study has suggested that use of ibuprofen in patients with more comorbidities was more likely to be associated with AKI.32 In another report, the combined use of ibuprofen and acetaminophen in children was associated with a significantly increased risk of AKI compared with use of these 2 drugs alone.33 However, we did not observe a significant interaction of ibuprofen use with use of other classes of drugs, including angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin-II receptor blockers, diuretics, proton pump inhibitors, other NSAIDs, and contrast media.
