NTRK1 and cancer: Although in the context of cancer biology, active ERK is usually associated to increased survival, proliferation, and malignancy (Samatar and Poulikakos, 2014), the RAF-MEK-ERK signaling pathway is also associated with neural differentiation under the control of the receptor for nerve growth factor (NGF), the neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor A (TRKA) (Khotskaya et al., 2017).
