An increase in the contentof ICAM-1, VCAM-1, and E-selectin on the surface ofendothelial cells and in plasma is associated with the risk ofcoronary heart disease (Belokopytova et al., 2013), atherosclerosis(Galkina, Ley, 2007), and pulmonary hypertension(Kato et al., 2005). This evidence concerns the gene VCAM1 and pulmonary hypertension.
