Abdelmohsen et al. (2017) revealed that circPABPN1 bound extensively to HuR, which was a common RNA-binding protein, prevented HuR from binding to PABPN1 mRNA and reduced the expression of PABPN1 gene in human cervical carcinoma cells. Besides, some circRNAs play roles as protein scaffolds. Du et al. (2017) found that circFoxo3 promoted MDM2-induced p53 degradation because it had binding sites for MDM2 and p53 in mice. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cervical carcinoma.
