ACHE and Airway obstruction: A previous study reported that certain pesticides may induce inflammation by increasing neutrophil reactive oxygen molecule production and interleukin-8 secretion.23 In addition, organophosphates and carbamates inhibit acetylcholinesterase, which results in mucus hypersecretion and airway smooth muscle contraction.24 Thus, persistent inflammation induced by pesticides might result in chronic respiratory symptoms and airway obstruction.
