The two selected SerpinF1 (Pigment epithelium-derived factor, PEDF) and SerpinA4 (Kallistatin) were found to be higher in group C than in subjects in groups A and B. The role of SerpinF1 has been clarified in animal models, showing that this protein is able to inhibit eosinophilic airway inflammation, airway hyperresponsiveness and airway remodeling [19]. The gene discussed is SERPINA4; the disease is airway hyperresponsiveness.
