REST and autism: Genes regulated by REST/NRSF were reported to have functions in synaptic transmission [5,6], neurotransmitter signaling [7,8,9], ion channeling [4,10] etc. Ectopic expression of REST/NRSF or changes in the expression cellular pattern lead to symptoms of neuropathies such as medulloblastoma [11], glioblastoma [12], Huntington’s disease [13], neuropathic pain [14], Parkinson’s disease [15] and autism [16].
