IL2 and oral lichen planus: High levels of IL‐2 have been reported in OLP lesions (42, 43), whilst corticosteroids decrease expression of the IL2 gene and secretion of the IL‐2 protein by interfering with the transcription factors nuclear factor of activated T‐cells, activator protein 1, and nuclear factor kappa‐light‐chain‐enhancer of activated B cells (44, 45, 46, 47), hence the use of corticosteroids in treatment of OLP.
