GFAP expressionincreased around the carcinoma, which indicatedthe existence of a glial scar encapsulating the tumor.62 Indeed, one of the main reasons for recurrencein GBM is its high infiltrative properties in the healthy corticaltissue,63 but the appearance of a glialscar following CPT-ALA treatment can reduce the infiltrative capacityof GBM and therefore enhance the success of surgical removing, improvinglife expectancy by reducing tumor recurrence. The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is carcinoma.
