Remarkably, Gui et al. (2020) found that while the presence of wtp53 preferentially associates with a dominant ALDH isoform in tumors from HNSCC (Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinomas), mutp53 displayed a different diversity of ALDH isoforms, thus severely influencing chemoresistance associated to ALDH. The gene discussed is LDHA; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
