MYC and neoplasm: Bridging Integrator-1 is encoded by the human BIN1 gene (Negorev et al., 1996) and predominantly expressed in the brain and muscle (Wechsler-Reya et al., 1997), which is a multifunctional protein that also serves as a tumor suppressor through interacting with Myc; hence, Myc box-dependent-interacting protein is an alias for the BIN1 gene (Sakamuro et al., 1996).
