Specifically with respect to mood disorders, retrospective data point to lower levels of depressive and anxious symptoms among hypertensive patients receiving ACE inhibitors, as well as to lower rates of antidepressant use among patients with hypertension or diabetic nephropathy treated with ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor antagonists (Braszko et al., 2003; Rocha et al., 2018a). Here, ACE is linked to diabetic kidney disease.
