As shown in Figure 2, during the HUS phase, the median (range) serum IGFBP2 levels were significantly higher in patients with encephalopathy (4899 [1977–11,926] pg/mL) (p<.0001) and in those with severe HUS (2564 [2061–4180] pg/mL) (p<.05) compared with the HCs (649 [320–1840] pg/mL), whereas there was no significant difference in the serum IGFBP2 levels between the patients with mild HUS (2224 [802–3212] pg/mL) and HCs. This evidence concerns the gene IGFBP2 and hemolytic-uremic syndrome.
