S100B and Stroke: Unfortunately, these results were not substantiated by Gonzalez-García's 2012 study where S100B, measured between 8 and 48 h of symptom onset was significantly elevated in stroke compared to controls but failed to differentiate between IS and ICH and did not correlate with stroke severity on admission (72) despite other studies suggesting that S100B concentrations correlated with stroke severity and size of infarction (73–75).
