IL-10 has been reported to have dual functions, namely, proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory effects, which, on the one hand, might inhibit Th1-type autoimmune diseases and aggravate autoantibody-mediated autoimmune diseases, such as lupus erythematosus and myasthenia gravis, and, on the other hand, ameliorate parasite-mediated autoimmune disease [45]. The gene discussed is IL10; the disease is autoimmune disease.
