Zee & Ridker (2002) reported that baseline median CRP concentrations in healthy men who experienced their first arterial thrombosis (nonfatal MI, nonfatal stroke, or cardiovascular death) during 8.6-year follow-up were significantly higher than matched controls who remained event free (1.43 vs. 1.23 mg/L, P = 0.006). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is stroke disorder.
