Similarly to our results, in a recent study in which ganglion cell injury was induced through experimental ocular glaucoma model in rats, it was shown that ocular hypertension provoked apoptosis via the intrinsic pathway, owing to Bax and caspase-3 activation, in both retina and cornea, which also found to led DNA damage due to p53 activation [49]. This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and ocular hypertension.
