In this cross-sectional clinical study, we could demonstrate that, in this cohort of patients naïve to antiviral therapy, with all stages of hepatic fibrosis, the PNPLA3 GG subjects had lower BMI than CG/CC individuals, and the presence of MetS was more frequent in CC/CG subjects, without any other clinical, biochemical or histological associations. The gene discussed is PNPLA3; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
