It has been demonstrated that rapamycin, an autophagy activator, can promote glioma cell death and sensitize glioma cells to TMZ treatment by upregulating the expression of Beclin-1, ATG5, and LC3-II [36], suggesting a possible adjuvant role of autophagy on enhancing the response to conventional chemotherapy against gliomas.
