HSD17B13 and Hepatic steatosis: Such alleviation included reductions in the amounts of (1) LD PLINs 3 and 5, the structural proteins that fortify LDs to prevent their breakdown (23); (2) hydroxysteroid proteins HSD17β13 and 11, both enzymes are involved in cholesterol and fatty acid metabolism and promote fatty liver in humans and animals (20, 21), and (3) CIDEB of the CIDE family of proteins, which promotes LD fusion to create larger LDs (18).
