MTOR and allergic disease: Mucosal delivery of probiotics has been the subject of growing interest due to its proven therapeutic effects in inflammatory and allergic disorders.110 Development of food hypersensitivity reactions occurs due to production of food protein-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) and stimulation of basophils or mast cells, as a result of the activation of imbalanced, T helper 2 (Th2)-biased immune responses.111 Extensive studies have been conducted to support the efficacy of probiotic microorganisms in decreasing food allergy symptoms via the regulation of mTOR and Treg cells.
