Some potential strategies for CRISPR/Cas9 interventions targeting cellular genes in cancer have proposed downregulation of oncogenes (ErbB, src, abl, fps, yes, ras, raf, and myc) and genes related to chemoresistance (MDR-1, MRP, GST-p, UGT1A1 and Cytokine P450) and for upregulation of tumor suppressor genes (pRb, p53, APC, SMAD4, PTEN, BRCA1/2, and ATM) (22, 69). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is cancer.
