Because the inefficient clearance of Candida in CD169-DTR kidneys could be due to the lack of effector cells recruitment, we monitored neutrophilic and monocytic infiltration in the kidneys of WT and CD169-DTR mice at day 0, 1, 3, 6, and 10 p.i. Similar to our histological observations (Fig 2C), absence of renal CD169++ Fr I macrophages did not affect the recruitment of leukocytes during the infection (Fig 4A).
