The downregulated expression of Mapk10 caused by hypermethylation in HCC tumors is correlated with the advanced tumor stages and poor prognosis of patients, which hinted that the epigenetic inactivation of Mapk10 is one of the major mechanisms in tumorigenesis of HCC, along with the evidence that Mapk10 is a general TSG for HCC.
