Consistent with the observed high CADD scores, chemical modification at K205 (e.g., by aspirin) has been found to block G6PD activity (Jeffery, Hobbs, & Jörnvall, 1985; Ai et al, 2016) and mutations at K171 have been implicated in anemia (Hirono et al, 1989; Au et al, 2000). This evidence concerns the gene G6PD and anemia.
