PI3Ks are lipid kinases which could phosphorylate phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2) by 3-OH position of inositol ring to produce phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3), subsequently activates downstream pathways, such as PI3K/Akt/mTOR (PAM) pathway, in multiple types of cancer, including CRC [8, 9]. The gene discussed is PIK3CA; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
