We ruled out a diagnosis of HCL-c for our patient because he did not exhibit mutations in BRAF V600E; moreover, he had negative findings regarding CD25, TRAP, and Annexin A1.[16,17] We also ruled out splenic marginal B-cell lymphoma because the patient's abnormal lymphocytes had prominent nucleoli with omnidirectional villi; positive CD103 findings; and negative CD10 and CD23 findings.[17,18] The del (11p) abnormality also supported a diagnosis of HCL-v, rather than splenic marginal B-cell lymphoma, based on prior findings.[19,20]. Here, FCER2 is linked to hairy cell leukemia.
