The observed increase in reactive oxygen species generation (Figure 3A), the reprioritization of arginine metabolism with endogenous eNOS inhibition (Figure 3A), and elevated ADH levels (Figure 5A) suggest that the renal hypertension in 5/6 Nx rats develops with multifactorial generalized vasoconstriction, which might be difficult to reverse (resistant hypertension). The gene discussed is AVP; the disease is Hypertension resistant to conventional therapy.
