It has been recently reported that the subcellular localization of PFN1 is regulated by exportin 6 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)-related PFN1 mutations have cytoplasmic inclusions and decrease of nuclear import suggesting a critical role of nuclear compartment of PFN1 [25, 26]. Here, PFN1 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
