The APH and BPH soils show abundant amounts of the genes encoding for dehydrogenases, such as naphthalene 1,2-dioxygenase, extradiol dioxygenase, benzoate 1,2 dioxygenase, protocatechuate 4,5-dioxygenase (alpha and beta chain), and 1,2-dihydroxynaphthalene dioxygenase (Figure 2). The gene discussed is APEH; the disease is benign prostatic hyperplasia.
