Our study indicates that Triumeq (a first-line cART regimen for treating HIV/AIDS) alters the functional activity of mPFC pyramidal neurons, and it does so through increasing Ca2+ influx via overactivation/overexpression of VGCCs, including, but may not be limited to, LVA-Cav1.3 L-channels. This evidence concerns the gene CACNA1D and AIDS.
