GSTM1 and anemia (phenotype): Estimated iron intake from the salt (15 mg Fe/d) for 1 y increased Hb significantly in both boys and girls and decreased anemia prevalence from 53.7% to 19.4% (P < 0.001) in boys and from 15.5% to 3% (P < 0.001) in girls, with little change in the control groups.
