In May 2015 the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning indicating that treatment with SGLT2 inhibitors may increase the risk of euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (euDKA), while the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and American College of Endocrinology (ACE) released a position statement in 2016 discussing a similar association [2, 8]. Here, SLC5A2 is linked to diabetic ketoacidosis.
