In terms of the first DFS event, second primary malignancies (breast cancer: 17.0% vs. 12.2%, P = 0.009; non-breast cancer: 4.3% vs. 1.9%, P = 0.02) were more frequent in the BRCA1 cohort while distant recurrences were less frequent (10.4% vs. 15.4%, P = 0.02) as compared to the BRCA2 cohort (Table 2). This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and breast cancer.
