TIMP1 level increases in CRC have been associated with lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, and vascular invasion, and TIMP1 mediation of the AK-PI3K/AKT and MAPK pathways may be involved in inhibiting proliferation, metastasis, and increased apoptosis [39].
