In contrast, BNIP3 was not found to be expressed in other cancer cell types including pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, multiple myelomas, and primary colorectal cancers (CRCs), rendering these cells more prone to resist apoptosis [39,40], and a decrease in BNIP3 expression has been shown to lead to poorer survival and cell proliferation in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), as well as pancreatic and CRCs [41,42,43]. This evidence concerns the gene BNIP3 and pancreatic neoplasm.
