We further explored a possible connection between interleukin-27 (IL-27), STAT3 signaling and IL-10 expression in CD4 T cells of mice with manifest lupus and found that IL-27 transcripts were increased in the spleens of ill NZB/W F1 mice compared to healthy animals (Figure 4g). The gene discussed is STAT3; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
