BDNF and Anxiety: No data are available on the enduring effects induced by SDS on BDNF expression and, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first evidence demonstrating that adult rats exposed to SDS during early adolescence, but not in adulthood, exhibit increased expression of BDNF in the hippocampus that is linked to behavioral alterations (e.g., hyperarousal, anxiety, and cued fear memory deficits).
