In fact, the chromosomal location including PPARGC1A has been linked to risk for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder [237,238,239,240], and a recent genome-wide association study found a significant association between schizophrenia and rs215411, a single-nucleotide polymorphism ~370 kb downstream of PPARGC1A [241,242]. Here, PPARGC1A is linked to schizophrenia.
